Individual Sessions

Emma works with children and adolescents of all ages across a range of areas including:  counselling, anxiety and anxiety management, depression, emotional regulation, anger management, coping with stress, behavioural issues and management, parenting skills, social skills training, sibling rivalry and family conflict, and school adjustment.

Diagnostic Assessment - Autism Spectrum Disorders

The assessment and diagnostic sessions consist of a cognitive assessment, to determine the child’s areas of strengths and weaknesses, followed by a comprehensive parent interview covering the child’s developmental history, current issues and concerns. A comprehensive report is written and given to the parents or guardians at a follow up session.

Cognitive and Educational Assessments

A Cognitive Assessment (IQ Assessment) is conducted using either the Wechsler Pre-School and Primary Scale of Intelligence - Fourth Ed. (WPPSI-IV) and the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children - Fifth Edition (WISC-V). A cognitive assessment may be requested by a school or parent to determine a child's areas of strength or difficulties. A cognitive assessment may also be used to apply for funding within the education system. An Educational Assessment includes both a Cognitive and Achievement Assessment using the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test - Third Edition (WIAT-III). A comprehensive written report is provided following the completion of the assessment.

Family intervention

Emma works closely with families to provide ongoing therapy and information sessions. She works with them to develop parenting strategies that suit their unique situation. She comes from a connection based parenting approach. She also provides information sessions about child development, functioning within the school environment and social and emotional issues.

Outreach sessions

It is important to ensure consistency across all areas of a child's life and the understanding and application of skills and strategies. It is essential to work with teachers and support staff and understand the educational setting in order to assist in transition and adjustment to school. Emma is able to visit and work with teachers and carers across a range of educational settings (i.e schools, childcare centres and kindergartens).

Professional Development Sessions for educators.

These can be conducted within a range of educational settings (Kinders, Primary and Secondary Schools, Child Care Centres). Subject topics can vary from how to identify students with Autism Spectrum Disorder to management skills that can be applied within the classroom, developing a range of skills for professionals working with children and adolescents.  Emma also conducts sessions on management of stress and wellbeing for practitioners, parenting, child development and other  topics.
